General Laborer

Employment Type: Full-Time  

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Dredging and Dewatering General Laborer to join our team. This role involves performing manual labor tasks to support dredging, dewatering, and sediment management projects. The ideal candidate is physically fit, safety-conscious, and able to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of dredging and dewatering equipment, such as pumps, hoses, geo textile tubes, and sediment processing systems.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, including shoveling, raking, and moving materials like sediment, sludge, or debris.
  • Support the installation and dismantling of pipelines, hoses, and other equipment used in dredging and dewatering operations.
  • Monitor and maintain work sites to ensure safety and cleanliness, including removing debris and securing equipment.
  • Assist with the transport and handling of materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Work closely with equipment operators, supervisors, and other team members to complete projects efficiently.
  • Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Basic understanding of safe work practices and willingness to adhere to safety regulations.
  • Strong team work and communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Previous experience in construction, oil/gas, or water/wastewater is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and operate basic equipment under supervision.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed outdoors at construction sites, waterways, or industrial facilities.
  • Exposure to water, mud, dust, and noise is common.
  • May require working in confined spaces or near heavy machinery.
  • Over time, weekend, or shift work may be required based on project needs.
