What is an HSA?

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a personal savings account designed to help you pay for current and future medical expenses — all while offering valuable tax advantages. When you enroll in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), you’re eligible to open and contribute to an HSA.

How it works:

You contribute funds to your HSA through easy, pre-tax payroll deductions. The money in your account can be used to pay for qualified medical expenses such as doctor visits, prescriptions, vision, and dental care.Any unused funds roll over year to year — your balance never expires.

The account is yours to keep, even if you change jobs or retire.

Why consider an HSA:

‍Triple tax advantage:
Contributions are tax-free, earnings grow tax-free, and withdrawals for qualified medical expenses are tax-free.

Long-term savings: HSAs can act as an additional tool for future healthcare expenses — even into retirement.

Flexibility and control: You decide how much to contribute and when to use the funds.

An HSA is a smart way to take charge of your healthcare spending and plan ahead for a more secure financial future.

What is Coinsurance?

Coinsurance is the share of costs, either a percentage or set amount, that you pay for covered health care or prescription drugs. You need to meet your deductible before coinsurance applies.
